Made-to-measure Lingerie

Third year knit and contour paper - I chose to make made-to-measure bras to fit myself. I have always had trouble finding bras that fit as my frame is small, but I have a large bust. My aim was to make an underwire soft-cup bra pattern that I could use as a base to make lingerie for myself. I drafted my own bra pattern based on my measurements and created many toiles, altering the pattern as I went. Once I was happy with the fit of the base pattern, I designed two lingerie sets. The first set was a soft-cup underwire bra and underwear with a non-stretch panel at the front and a centre back seam. The second set was a soft-cup underwire bustier and high waisted underwear with overlaying panels and a cut out at the back. I was very pleased with the results and how much I developed my skills in sewing knit fabrics.
